Dear John,
Thanks to the activism of thousands of MCV members and our environmental allies across Maine, the Legislature is feeling the pressure to reconvene THIS MONTH to consider bond proposals, including funding for the Land for Maine's Future program.
But passage of this critical funding measure is far from certain , and we need your help one more time to convince lawmakers to head back to Augusta and put this bond on the November ballot before it's too late.
The Land for Maine’s Future Program is responsible for protecting some of Maine's most iconic and beautiful lands — like the Bold Coast trail in Cutler, Moosehead Lake's Mount Kineo, and Bigelow Preserve in western Maine.
Will you join us and urge House and Senate leadership to reconvene immediately and pass this important funding measure? Click here to send a letter (a personalized one is best!). [[link removed]]
For more than 30 years, the Land for Maine's Future program has protected more than 600,000 acres of some of Maine's most beautiful and important natural and recreational areas in all 16 counties across the state, including more than 315,000 acres of working forestland and more than 9,700 acres of productive farmland.
After years of inaction by the LePage administration, the LMF program is out of money and our state parks are in desperate need of funding. If passed by voters this fall, this measure will help increase public access to special places, conserve working forests, farms, and waterfronts that are vital to Maine’s economy, and preserve wildlife habitat.
This could be our last chance to get this bond measure on the ballot before time runs out. Please take two minutes and send a quick letter urging House and Senate leaders to reconvene and pass this important measure to protect the Maine we all love. [[link removed]]
Thank you for speaking out.
