As we draw closer to the November 2024 presidential elections, the future of our democracy is becoming even more perilous, with the realization the extreme right may once again gain control of the White House.

This is a frightening prospect.

Now is not a time to be uninformed or, worse yet, misinformed. The need for fact-based independent news has never been greater.

As a nonprofit, The Progressive is beholden to no one in our quest to provide unbiased progressive journalism. We need your ongoing financial commitment and invite you to become a sustainer.

As a sustainer, your monthly donation supplies a steady stream of funding we can count on. And, as long as you are a sustainer, you will receive a subscription to The Progressive at no additional cost!

You will also be supporting the Progressive Perspectives ([link removed]) op-ed project, which seeks to amplify underrepresented voices, and the Public Schools Advocate ([link removed]) project, which aims to empower teachers, parents, and other community members to advocate for strong public schools.

My role at The Progressive is to connect readers who share similar values and, in doing so, help broaden the reach of this historic and much-needed publication. Why? Because a free and independent press is essential to a healthy democracy.

The Progressive functions as a watchdog that investigates and reports on government and corporate misconduct. It also serves as a platform to amplify voices of dissent, many of which are under-represented in the mainstream.

But for our small staff of only six employees and a few interns, keeping this magazine, website, and these educational programs relevant and hard-hitting requires the support of thousands of informed and motivated people like you. One of our primary sources of financial support comes through the many small monthly donations of our sustaining members. You truly make this work possible!
