Dear John,
Last month, we shared [[link removed]] that Congress was continuing to negotiate on a massive supplemental spending bill that would provide Israel and Ukraine with additional military assistance. Today, the Senate voted to formally debate that bill, passing a key hurdle that now opens the door to votes on amendments and passage through the chamber.
As an organization devoted to building peace through diplomacy, we have been horrified by the atrocities committed in this latest iteration of the Israel-Palestine conflict and the drift toward regional war with Iran. That is why it is hard to envision a more reckless idea than sending a blank check of more than $10 billion to Benjamin Netanyahu and the Israeli government.
Your Senators must hear from you to block any more U.S. taxpayer dollars going toward new weaponry to indiscriminately kill civilians, perpetuate the horrific cycle of violence, and risk dragging the U.S. into total war in the Middle East. message your senators [[link removed]]
Thankfully, this package is far from guaranteed from passing into law and lawmakers including Sen. Bernie Sanders and Sen. Chris Van Hollen have worked with their colleagues to submit amendments to address some of our deepest concerns with this bill. Please take a moment today to make sure your Senators hear our voices and stop providing a blank check for war.
Sincerely,
Myriam Sabbaghi Organizing Director, NIAC Action
