Earlier this week, Governor Josh Shapiro gave his 2024-25 budget address and delivered some bold ideas. His budget proposal was full of wins for all of our neighbors across Pennsylvania, here are some highlights ↓
Raising the minimum wage: We’re going to start raising the minimum wage for hard working Pennsylvanians. Our commonwealth is going to be a leader with how we treat our workers, with dignity and respect. If we want economic growth here in Pennsylvania, we must begin with raising wages.
Funding for public education: Our students, from grade school to higher education, are facing challenges. We have to secure more funding for our public schools to ensure equitable opportunities for every student. We must improve access to higher education at a cheaper rate.
Prioritizing public safety: Our Democratic majority in the State House has passed bills to make our communities safer. Now, it’s time for the Senate to finally pass these bills that will save lives and reduce levels of gun violence. We shouldn’t lose any lives in our communities.
With Governer Shapiro’s budget proposal, we’re just getting started. As Speaker of the Pennsylvania State House, I am so excited to see what we can accomplish together.
