To help school nurses provide high-quality care to these students and improve their health and safety, NASN is pleased to release the new School Nursing Evidence-Based Clinical Practice Guideline (CPG): Students with Seizures and Epilepsy. This no-cost CPG is based on the latest and highest-quality evidence available. Additionally, the School Nursing Evidence-Based Clinical Practice Guideline: Students With Seizures and Epilepsy CPG Implementation Toolkit is now available. It offers template care planning tools and educational materials to assist you in implementing the CPG's recommendations into your practice. These evidence-based resources have been made available just in time for International Epilepsy Day on February 12 and the annual observance of Seizure Action Plan Awareness Week, February 12-19, 2024. Preparing Your School Communities for a Winter Storm With winter-related emergencies, preparation is key! Having a plan ahead of a winter storm is important for the entire school community. The plan can include communication details and instructions on what to do before, during, and after the weather-related event. School Nurses Addressing Chronic Absenteeism School nurses play a key role in identifying students who are at risk for chronic absenteeism.
