Folks,
Everyone’s saying it: this November, Arizona will be the deciding factor for who wins the White House and gains control of the House of Representatives. Cook Political Report has listed AZ-01 and AZ-06 among the most competitive of all 435 House races this year.
But AZ-08 definitely takes the cake for the wildest group of candidates. Can you chip in $8 today to help us mobilize voters in AZ-08 and across Arizona to defeat the craziest candidates and flip this state blue?
Here’s just 8 of the absurd candidates we’re working hard to defeat:
-
Jacob Chansley, AKA “The Q Anon Shaman,” who served 27 months of his 41 month sentence in federal prison for participating in the January 6th, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol.
-
Abraham Hamadeh, who is endorsed by Kari Lake and none other than Donald Trump himself. Abe lost to Secretary of State Adrian Fontes last year, election denialism isn’t a winning campaign strategy.
-
Blake Masters, a venture capitalist, member of Trump’s presidential transition team, NFT shiller, and perpetual (unsuccessful) candidate for various offices. He’s endorsed by his pal, Ohio Senator J.D. Vance, with a history of racist and classist views who’s reportedly on Trump’s VP shortlist.
-
Anthony Kern, an AZ state senator and election denier who has made it his full-time job to fight to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election and restore Trump to power. He’s also been named to the Maricopa County District attorney’s office “Brady List,” reserved for law enforcement officers with a history of dishonesty.
-
Ben Toma, an aggressively conservative real estate broker who has lost the race for mayor of Peoria, Arizona twice. He referred to immigrants at the Southern border as “staging an invasion,” despite himself being an immigrant from Romania.
-
Rollie Stevens, a country songwriter, creator of such musical masterpieces as “Beer Drinking Woman,” “Daddy’s Little Girl’s Little Girl,” and “My Woman, My Woman, My Wife.”
-
Trent Franks, a proud oil rig driller and founder of the Arizona Family Research Institute, a socially conservative Christian group that aims to “generate empirical research on issues that threaten the traditional family, particularly homosexuality, AIDS, sexual social policy, and drug abuse.” He previously served as representative but had to resign after it was revealed that he asked two separate women on his staff to bear a child for him.
-
Brandon Urness, the former campaign manager for AZ Attorney General Mark Brnovich’s unsuccessful run for Senate. Brnovich is infamous for his radical actions in office, such as calling for the resumption of death penalty executions in Arizona and trying to prevent gay couples from adopting children.
These are the people we’re up against in AZ-08, and this list of candidates is a perfect example of just how crazy these races can get, across Arizona and nationwide. You couldn’t make this stuff up if you tried.
Can you chip in $8 today to help us defeat extremist candidates like the ones running in AZ-08?
Thanks!
— Arizona Democratic Party
