I'm a North Philadelphia native, and have spent my entire life working to uplift my community and improve the lives of working families one block at a time.

And right now, the community I love dearly needs us more than ever. This pandemic will be one of the most defining moments in many of our lives, as well as in our nation's history. But we have the opportunity to write the story of this crisis ourselves.

It's up to us to ensure this moment is one in which everyday people stepped up and did their part to keep the most vulnerable healthy. A moment where neighbors reached out and helped their neighbors -- a moment where compassion and support for our fellow Americans led us all to do great things in service of our communities.

That's why I'm asking you to chip in anything you can spare today to the Philadelphia COVID-19 Fund. The best solutions are local, and this frontline resource will ensure the most vulnerable and disproportionately impacted among us will be able to survive this pandemic.

There is no doubt the effects of the coronavirus will be far-reaching and frequently devastating. Folks are losing their jobs, struggling to feed their families, confronting illness and loneliness in a time of extreme isolation, and more. But there is one thing that gives me hope in such dark times as these: ordinary people are capable of extraordinary things when they rise to meet the demand of the moment.

So while I'm working around the clock in Congress to secure the federal resources our city needs right now, I encourage you to join me in doing what you can to build a stronger -- and healthier, more economically resilient -- Philadelphia block by block.
