John,
This week, most members of the House of Representatives voted to send $17.6 billion U.S. taxpayer dollars to Israel’s military. The bill failed, because it needed a special two-thirds majority to pass.
Yesterday, most Senate Democrats voted for a bill that would send $14.1 billion to Israel’s military to drop more U.S. bombs on Palestinian children.
The bill would also have blocked U.S. funding for the UN agency supporting millions of Palestinian refugees with life-saving aid—all while the Israeli government intentionally starves people and attacks supply trucks heading into Gaza.
The bill, which Biden supported, included far-right U.S. border policies that would end asylum protections, lock up more refugees, and speed up mass deportations.
These cruel anti-immigrant policies were included as an attempt to get Republican support on the bill, which ultimately failed. Sadly, most of our government’s leaders don’t seem to see immigrants or people of Muslim faith or Arab heritage as human beings.
Although this week’s legislation didn’t pass, Democrats and Republicans in Congress are going to keep trying to hand over billions of American taxpayer dollars to Netanyahu’s genocidal regime.
As the only Palestinian American in Congress, I will continue to speak up, no matter how many times my colleagues try to censure me or police my words. I can’t stand by while the U.S. arms and enables genocide.
Please donate today to help me show that Palestinians exist and we’re not going anywhere—no matter how many times they try to erase us.
My district’s residents sent me to Congress to invest in life, not death and destruction.
Their demands echo the demands of the American people. Every day, more cities and labor unions representing millions of Americans are joining the call for a ceasefire.
More U.S. leaders need to listen and to recognize our shared humanity.
Congress recently passed $886 billion for this year's Pentagon budget, and yesterday the Senate considered a $118 billion package for war and xenophobia.
Instead of funding our communities’ needs, many of my colleagues continue to funnel billions of American tax dollars to the very same defense contractors that many of them are invested in and taking campaign donations from.
That's why I just introduced legislation to stop members of Congress from profiting financially when they vote to support wars and weapons manufacturing.
We deserve better.
Taking the lead from grassroots movements, I'm working towards a federal government that ends poverty, that values diplomacy and peace over the military industrial complex, and that finally creates a real path to citizenship for our immigrant neighbors.
We're building a future where instead of funding war, our government funds housing, healthcare, utilities and clean water, childcare, climate solutions, reparations for Black Americans, education, and more for our communities.
Members of Congress should be accountable to the people. That's who I'm here to serve.
Please donate to my campaign today to build a better future together—and to show that Palestinians aren't going anywhere.

In solidarity,
Rashida
