my full remarks, click *HERE* [link 2].
Yesterday over *100
Americans* tragically died from the coronavirus outbreak. In addition,
thousands of Americans were laid off and had to file unemployment claims,
and many small businesses closed their doors. *Just yesterday.*
Yet
even in the face of an unspeakable national crisis, a major bill to
bolster our health care response and rescue our economy was, once again,
*blocked* in the U.S. Senate.
Each day matters. Every hours
matters. *And we just lost another day here in the U.S. Senate!*
I've
been talking to Montanans around the clock to get their feedback on the
impact of the crisis, from hospital leaders, ag groups, tribal leaders
and small business leaders.
The Senate bill, *originally drafted
by Republican and Democrats*:
-
Provides unemployment insurance
for those who lost their jobs during the coronavirus outbreak
-
Provides $350 billon dollars for small businesses to survive and
rebound from the economic burden of the crisis
-
Provides $75 billon
for our hospitals and health care providers and another $1.7 billion
for medical supplies and equipment, masks and ventilators
For more
information on what this bill included, click* HERE [link 3]*.
But
*overnight
[link 4]*all our hard bipartisan work was tossed to the side
to because Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer wanted to debate carbon
emissions and the green new deal!
It is wrong *and reckless *to risk
the health of millions of Americans and our entire economy* by
demanding that the bill includes an ideological wish list*.
Enough is
enough! We need to come together work on this rescure bill to save
Montanans hurting during this global pandemic.
