These times are challenging and confusing. Even completing the simplest task can feel hard. It’s a difficult time, and this is a difficult email to send.

As Digital Director for Team Bowman, it’s my job to make sure this campaign is fully equipped to continue operating online so we can keep our neighbors and team safe. Before COVID-19, our campaign had a healthy balance of field and digital presence, but we simply cannot put our team and neighbors at risk.  

We’re not holding any fundraisers; we’re not holding any events. Everything we’re doing has now shifted online, including fundraising. To be very transparent with you, John, 96% of our contributions come from working people making small-dollar donations. These supporters are the same people suffering the most due to COVID-19 and are being completely overlooked by Washington. 

I recognize this is a difficult time to fundraise, and if you can’t contribute at this time, I understand. But you may also be in a position to give and keep fueling this campaign for others in NY-16 and across the country who are not able to contribute themselves.

We need to keep fundraising. We need to keep fighting for working people. NY-16 deserves a representative who cares, who champions human rights, and who won’t allow any elected official to sacrifice the lives and health of millions of Americans in order to help their friends on Wall Street.
