Did you miss our new webinar “Not Loving, Not Pro-Women: The Propaganda of Anti-Abortion Crisis Pregnancy Centers?" Don’t worry! There is still time to tune in to this conversation between activists, abortion providers, and experts on fake clinics to understand the truth behind the deceptive practices of anti-abortion pregnancy centers.
This Valentine’s Day we are sending love to all the people who have had abortions, abortion providers, and abortion advocates. We will continue to fight for expanded access to abortion in every way we can, everywhere we can!
To learn more about how to support a friend having an abortion at home, read our blog post here.
Self-Care
Self-care is an intentional practice that roots us in the present despite the oppression we may face. Regular self-care is essential for sustainable and effective activism.
Here are our self-care tips for February:
1. Take care of yourself (and, if you can, take time off!) when you're sick. It's easy (and sometimes expected) to try to push through and work through illness. "If you do not make time for your wellness, you will be forced to take time for your illness." -Joyce Sunada. Instead of pushing through, get ahead of the curve and take time to recharge: make a hot beverage, put on a good movie or start a good book, and rest. You'll thank yourself later. – Nataley, Executive Assistant and Senior Operations Coordinator
2. Stretch! Especially if you spend a significant amount of time sitting. Gentle stretches are easy to incorporate throughout the day. Try calf raises while brushing your teeth or neck rolls while microwaving your lunch. A little bit can really go a long way! – Liz, Senior Development and Operations Manager
3. Take a walk outside! During the cold winter months, it is easy to spend less and less time getting fresh air and sun. I always find that bundling up against the cold and taking a walk outside does more for my mood and myself than any indoor exercise can! – Laila, Lead Organizer
See you next month!
