In January… The House passed a restoration of our Child Tax Credit expansion through the House thanks to congressional Democrats. Bill voted for this measure in committee and on the House floor. When Democrats last enacted this policy we cut child poverty IN HALF! Republicans unanimously defeated an amendment Bill offered in committee to provide relief from the onerous State and Local Tax Deduction cap imposed on New Jersey taxpayers in the Trump Tax Scam. Bill will never give up fighting for our middle class families and communities on this issue. In our latest progress to secure critical health care funding for New Jersey’s Ninth Congressional District, Bill announced that the City of Paterson will receive a federal grant to help combat the spread of HIV. The grant will grant low-income individuals and families access to care and provide direct financial assistance to areas most severely affected. We celebrated the reduction in violent crime in Paterson announced by the NJ Attorney General, which saw fewer homicides, fewer violent crime victims, fewer robberies, and fewer assaults in 2023! Bill testified about how to better manage flooding in our at-risk communities before the House Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment. He sought greater federal resources and more attention to address long-term flooding problems in our state.
