1) Oops! EV Subsidies Will Cost Taxpayers $200 BILLION More Than Biden Estimated

Biden’s electric vehicle program is turning into one of the greatest fiascos and financial scandals in modern times.

The Congressional Budget Office just reported in a “technical revision” revision that the federal subsidies - including the $7,500 check the government hands out to car buyers when the purchase and EV will cost $224 billion above original projections. Why? Because of the Biden EPA's electric vehicles mandates that will force more people to buy the subsidized EVs.

By the way, only in Washington would a $224 billion acc blunder be called a “technical revision.”

This news comes on the heels of yesterday’s report that Ford lost more than $60,000 for every EV they sold last year. No doubt Washington will be handing them a bailout check.

2) Do You Trust the Government To Do the Right Thing Most of the Time?
Maybe it is the money drain of the EV program that explains this: The Wall Street Journal published a chart yesterday showing that only 16% of Americans trust the government’s competence. That’s the lowest percentage who have trusted the government in six decades.

Contrast that result with our CTUP poll of cultural elites and Ivy League graduates. ([link removed]) We found that 70% of elites trust the government to do the right thing “most of the time” and even more astounding 89% of Ivy League super-elites do.

Perhaps this is because the elites RUN the government, or have lawyers and lobbyists to help them maneuver around it. Most everyday Americans don’t have that luxury.

3) One Year After East Palestine, OH Train Derailment - Where’s Biden?
The East Palestine train crash a year ago is a reminder of yet another crisis that Joe Biden flunked. Here we are a year later and Biden still hasn’t shown up. (Sounds like Democrats have given up on Ohio.) His Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg – the man who rides his bike partially to his office in DC for the cameramen – used the occasion of the one-year anniversary of the derailment to compare railroad executives to robber barons ("fewer mustaches, fewer beards, just as much power") and promises a regulatory crackdown.

It was a low blow. The rail industry responded with a letter reminding Pete that the Biden administration’s own data shows rail is one of the SAFEST industries in America. Shouldn’t our Transportation Secretary know that?

4) Who Says There’s No More Inflation?
This headline from the Chicago Tribune caught our attention:

“In a letter to Chicago Bears season ticket holders, President and CEO Kevin Warren said price increases will range from 6.2% to 11.3% for a 2024 schedule with one preseason and eight regular-season games at Soldier Field.”

Wait! the Bears went 7-9 last year – which is the very definition of mediocrity – and they’re RAISING ticket prices?

5) For the Thousandth Time: America Is NOT a Democracy!
The left's favorite word these days is DEMOCRACY, as in "Donald Trump is a threat to our Democracy." It's seemingly every third word shrieked out of the mouths of congressional Democrats and MSNBC commentators.

Except that America is explicitly NOT a Democracy and we are not governed by "majority rules." Rather, the United States is a Constitutional Republic that protects the rights of minorities against "the mob" – which was something the left used to appreciate and respect.

As we've often said on these pages: a democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what's for dinner.
