VIDEO OF THE DAY: Jamie Raskin humiliates Marjorie Taylor Greene on House floor
Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin absolutely eviscerated Marjorie Taylor Greene and her "worthless trinket of a consolation prize" — her failed impeachment attempt of Homeland Security Sec. Alejandro Mayorkas — after hare-brained Republican efforts to impeach President Biden have gone absolutely nowhere despite months of desperate digging. "The madcap wild goose chase to impeach Joe Biden has produced no wild geese," Raskin noted. True, but hopefully it has produced a whole lotta lame ducks. [RETWEET THAT!]

Supreme Court to consider if Trump should be banned from running for president
Big day today, folks. The conservative-stacked high court, including three Trump appointees, will wade into unchartered waters today as they consider if Colorado can strike the serially indicted coup enthusiast off its ballot after finding he engaged in insurrection on January 6, 2021. The outcome of this case will send shockwaves across the country, where several other states have challenged Trump's eligibility to run for public office after engaging in seditious acts. Seems like the kind of hearing we'd all want televised in 2024, but that's an argument for another day, apparently.

GOP millionaire to swoop in on crucial battleground Senate race
Tammy Baldwin for Senate: Republican leadership confirms that California bank owner, Eric Hovde, is planning a run for Senator Tammy Baldwin’s must-win seat. This man is a megamillionaire capable of pouring at least $20 million dollars from his own fortune into the race — and you know that McConnell’s dark-money network is set to pour millions more in to replace Senator Baldwin with a right-wing extremist ready to do Trump’s bidding. Will you chip in to help re-elect Senator Baldwin and protect our Senate majority?
US Senate to vote on standalone foreign aid package including Ukraine
Following the spectacular collapse of the bipartisan border-Ukraine aid deal thanks to spineless Republicans doing the bidding of their serially indicted cult leader, the Senate is set to reconvene to discuss a standalone aid package for Ukraine and Israel. Like the bipartisan bill, the foreign aid package would include military assistance for Ukraine, security assistance for Israel, and humanitarian assistance for civilians in Ukraine, Gaza, and the West Bank. And also like the bipartisan border bill, this package stands zero chance of passing the House, where Trump's MAGA minions have expressed zero interest in lifting a finger to assist our allies or tackling the country's immigration challenges. These aren't serious people, and they do not deserve another term in Congress. Remember in November.
Conservative talk radio personality takes credit for threatening to "destroy" Republican senator
In a Senate floor speech on Wednesday, Sen. James Lankford of Oklahoma said an unnamed "popular commentator" had "told me flat out, 'If you try to move a bill that solves the border crisis during this presidential year, I will do whatever I can to destroy you, because I do not want you to solve this before the presidential election.'" Jesse Kelly, professional mouthbreather, guy who wrote a book, and AM radio conspiracy peddler, quickly took credit, suggesting Lankford was a eunuch (why not) while giving away the radical right's entire game — they do not want to "solve" immigration. They want to kick and scream about it, whip their base into a frenzy, and repeat the entire charade again the next election cycle when they get absolutely nowhere with their draconian, inhumane "solutions."

Man attacked by radical right-wing Guardian Angels live on Fox News wasn't a "migrant" after all
Failed Republican mayoral candidate and founder of right-wing vigilante group Guardian Angels Curtis Sliwa was welcomed onto Fox News' airwaves by Sean Hannity where the two spent several minutes fearmongering about the so-called migrant invasion that is so existentially dangerous, Republicans were compelled to kill their own bill to purportedly confront the problem. Sliwa, who has previously admitted to faking several crimes for publicity, including his own kidnapping, was spewing bullshit back and forth with Hannity when he pointed out "one of the migrant guys" his crew allegedly caught shoplifting off camera. Hannity instructed his crew to pan towards the action, where members of Sliwa's cosplay group dressed in matching outfits with cute hats were seen attacking the victim and giving him "a little pain compliance" the man’s mother “back in Venezuela felt," according to Sliwa. Only one problem with the narrative: the man in question is from the Bronx and, according to police, was not found to be shoplifting. Sean Hannity isn't stupid. He knows what he's doing here. And his disdain for the intellect of his own audience, whom he freely and enthusiastically dupes on a nightly basis, should be the big story here.

US court bans three weedkillers and finds EPA broke law in approval process
In a rare win for, ya know, people who think willfully poisoning the planet is a very bad idea, a US court this week banned three dangerous weedkillers widely used in American agriculture, finding that the Environmental Protection Agency broke the law in allowing them to be on the market in the first place. Shocking. The ruling is specific to three dicamba-based weedkillers manufactured by Bayer, BASF, and Syngenta, which have been blamed for millions of acres of crop damage and harm to endangered species and natural areas across the Midwest and South. Fun fact: this is the second time a federal court has banned these weedkillers since they were introduced for the 2017 growing season. In 2020, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals issued its own ban, but months later the Trump administration reapproved the weed-killing products, just one week before the presidential election at a press conference in the swing state of Georgia. Reminder: when Trump says shit like "America First" he isn't talking about the people.
