John,

Life as we know it is changing fast as the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic continues to grow.

From massive job losses, to school closures, to shelter-in-place orders, to delayed primaries, to families worrying about how they’re going to make next month’s rent or care for a loved one, there are very few answers to the questions we face.

As organizers, we’re used to plans shifting or getting scrapped altogether in order to meet a new challenge or moment. But this moment is unlike any we’ve faced. And even if we can’t knock on doors or hold in-person events, we still need to make sure our federal, state, and local leaders put the needs of working people first in their response to this crisis. That’s where you come in.

We know that a lot of our supporters are facing incredibly difficult financial circumstances right now. But if you are able to afford it, will you donate $3 to help the Working Families Party ramp up our digital organizing infrastructure so we can fight for an expanded safety net and a just rebuilding of our economy?

No one can predict exactly what the world will look like on the other side of this pandemic, but I know that if we come together, we can creatively harness our power to improve outcomes for the most vulnerable Americans.

The good news is that the Working Families Party already has made significant investments in building out our digital organizing infrastructure. Here are just a few of the campaigns, tools, and tactics we’re looking to deploy and expand in the weeks ahead:

  • Training our organizers and supporters on digital tools they can use to reach people without meeting in person;
  • Connecting our supporters with key organizing resources online;
  • Providing our endorsed candidates up and down the ballot with strategic guidance on how to best organize online;
  • Creating awareness around vote-by-mail programs in the states, and urging local election officials to adopt or expand the availability of similar programs in other states with upcoming elections;
  • Adding capacity to existing webinar tools like Zoom to allow our candidates and organizers to collaborate with supporters in place of in-person events, and;
  • Investing more in texting and call tools to continue voter contact.

Yes, our campaigning is going to look a little different — and we are not alone in needing to adjust to these new realities and meet this challenge. Even if we are far apart physically, we will continue to organize and connect with each other in any way possible. We must.

But first, we have to act fast on expanding our digital organizing infrastructure so we don’t fall behind. If you can afford it, can you help with a donation? If enough of you donate today, we can put these tactics in motion immediately.

Thank you for your help, and stay safe.

In Solidarity,

Maurice Mitchell
