Friend,
I’m reaching out to share two stories about the American Dream.
One is about a 19-year-old boy who won $5,000 in the lottery and
used that money to start his own business, Kevin O’s Deli, out of
his uncle’s yogurt shop in Bakersfield, CA. That is how he put
himself through college. He learned how hard it was for small
business owners to handle all the government regulations, tedious
paperwork, and burdensome taxes while also trying to actually run
the business.
This also motivated him to get into politics so that he could
change the system. He started in college, then moved to the state
level, then the national level by serving in Congress, and
finally reached the top by becoming Speaker of the House of
Representatives.
You’ve probably guessed it, this American Dream story is my
story, and I am so grateful for the opportunities that America
offers so that I could live it. But I am worried that this
American Dream is slipping away and not possible in Biden’s
America. So is my friend Dave McCormick.
Dave has also been able to live his own American Dream story in
Pennsylvania. Dave is a 7th-generation Pennsylvanian. After
serving in the 82nd Airborne in Iraq, Dave was able to grow a
business in Pittsburgh, then serve in the highest levels of
government, and finally run one of the largest financial
institutions in the world. Talk about an inspiration!
But Dave and I are not content to end it with our stories. We
want to ensure that this next generation can live their own
American Dream stories. That is why Dave is running for Senate in
Pennsylvania.
A recent WSJ poll said that only 36% of voters said that the
American Dream still holds true, which is down from 53% in 2012.
We should be concerned about this.
That’s why I am supporting Dave and hope you will, too.
Dave wants to shake things up in Washington by cutting rampant
spending and inflation, projecting American strength abroad,
securing our border, and implementing common sense ideas.
I truly believe this is what we need to turn our country around
and restore the promise of the American Dream. Dave has lived it
and he appreciates it, so we need to help him fight for it.
