These are trying and difficult times, but like the many generations of Americans before us, we have the strength to face this crisis together.

We want you to know that we’re doing everything in our power to help the working people of this country weather this storm, and come out on the other side intact.

Last week, we proposed legislation to establish an emergency Earned Income Tax Credit to get cash into the hands of people. Our plan would give a monthly check of at least $1,000 for every American and up to $3,000 for families with children.

These checks would be sent every month for at least 6 months. Every individual who earns less than $130,000 and every family who earns less than $260,000 will get this support.

Our neighbors need help now. This would provide a needed boost over 75% of workers, especially hourly wage earners and independent contractors. Remember: Nearly half of working Americans don’t have the cash for a $400 emergency.

Americans are doing their part. It is time for the government to do its part. We cannot put people in the position between losing a paycheck or a job and taking the precautions needed to keep our families safe. If you agree, become a citizen co-sponsor today:
