John,
Last week, Alberta Premier, Danielle Smith,
made an important policy announcement regarding parental rights and
transgender ideology.
This announcement is a step in
the right direction — but, honestly, it doesn’t go far enough.
I won’t break down the full policy, you can go look into it
for yourself.
But my biggest issue is that Premier
Smith completely adopted the language and framing of the transgender
ideologues corrupting our youth.
Instead of outright
rejecting transgender ideology and stating plainly that there are just
two sexes, Smith tries to appease her critics by using terms like
“gender identity” and promising to bring experts in “gender
reassignment” surgeries to Alberta.
While the policy
overall is a step in the right direction, it is crucial that we stand
our ground and demand more from elected politicians.
The reality is that by accepting the Left’s framing
and language on this issue, Smith is effectively working hand in hand
with the Radical Left to normalize transgender ideology.
I’m
sure her heart is in the right place, that she just wants to help
children.
But accepting a child’s delusion does not help him
or her.
The best thing we can do to protect children
is reject transgender ideology completely!
Children should be taught to accept themselves for who they
are, not seek pharmaceutical or surgical solutions to their troubles.
But the truly disappointing leader is not Danielle Smith, but
Pierre Poilievre!
Instead of supporting Smith's common
sense policy of banning child sex changes in Alberta, Poilievre is
banning anyone in the CPC from even talking about it.
He’s literally banning conservatism
in his own party!
Basic, common sense phrases like
“there are only two sexes” are too controversial for Pierre’s
CPC.
They are afraid of being bullied by the mainstream media.
They are scared of losing votes in the big cities.
They don’t care about what is morally right, they only
care about politics.
Pierre views issues like this
one as nothing more than a distraction. He only wants to talk about
the economy.
But Pierre, Canada is more than just
an economy!
We are a people with a shared
culture and values. This culture, these values must be defended and
upheld.
Or else what are we really conserving
anyway?
