The results from our Winter Priorities Survey are in ….

Free Press
Friend,

Last month, we sent out a survey asking Free Press supporters like you which issues you care most about and whether you’ve encountered disinformation and misleading content about the upcoming election.

The response was overwhelming: More than 2,000 people participated! And we’re excited to share some of the results:
  • A staggering 80% of survey respondents are worried about hate and disinformation on social media. That’s a big deal.
  • 65% of respondents noted that media consolidation and the decline of local journalism are huge problems.
  • And not far behind, survey respondents also voiced significant concerns over both racism and bias in the media and Net Neutrality.

When we asked supporters whether they’d encountered disinformation and hate online or in the media, almost everyone had something to say. Chief among the responses were concerns over the use of AI for misleading “deepfake” videos, the unchecked spread of conspiracy theories on social media, and blatant hate and racism on Twitter.

The challenges we face are immense. But if we continue to push tech companies to prioritize our safety over profits, work across the country to revive local journalism, and call out racism and bias in the media, we can create the media system we deserve.

Can we count on you to support this work? Donate any amount to Free Press today so we have the resources we'll need for the fights ahead.

With your support, we can do just about anything.

Thank you,

Dutch and all of us at Free Press
