This Black History Month, I am proud to announce that the NAACP has nominated “I AM Story,” our podcast series recounting the struggle of the 1968 Memphis Sanitation Strike, for an Image Award in the “Outstanding Podcast — Limited Series/Short Form” category. And with your vote, we have a chance to ensure it wins!
Black history and civil rights history are closely tied to labor history. Nothing captures this connection more than the story of the sanitation strikers and their iconic slogan — "I AM A MAN” — which continues to drive our organizing today.
For Black History Month, let’s honor the sacrifice of the Memphis sanitation workers by bringing the "I AM Story" center stage during the 55th annual NAACP Image Awards.
At a moment when issues of racial and economic justice are again front and center, recognizing the Memphis strikers will inspire the next generation to continue speaking out against inequality wherever they see it.
That’s why we need the Green Machine to get out the vote for the “I AM Story” podcast. Voting will take just a minute, but it involves a few clicks to ensure your vote is counted.
They say it’s an honor just to be nominated, but we want to win it for the strikers and their families! Vote to help carry on their legacy.Cast your vote now.
