Public benefit programs like SNAP, Supplemental Security Income and Medicaid enable low-income people to stave off hunger and severe poverty. These programs make a difference for vulnerable communities – but they are also far more difficult to access than they should be, whether through agency mismanagement, lack of accessibility options, or broken technology infrastructure.

NCLEJ is fighting to address these issues through our high-impact litigation and policy advocacy. People deserve a strong social safety net. That starts with making it easier to access the public benefits they need and are entitled to by law.

In Alaska, we secured a commitment from the State to cut it’s 10,000 person SNAP backlog by half in 2023. And in Michigan, we secured a pending settlement that will provide more than $110 million in additional State expenditures for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who rely on Medicaid Community Living Support.

Our work directly benefits hundreds of thousands of people. The importance of our legal advocacy cannot be overstated, which is why I’m asking you to show your support today.
