Hey John,
Last week was the official start to Black History Month! Today, we celebrate and uplift National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NBHAAD). In the true spirit of history, here are some ways Advocates for Youth has been dedicated to supporting young people advocating for reducing HIV stigma and organizing for HIV prevention, testing, and treatment:
-
ECHO (Engaging Communities Around HIV Organizating) is our collective of young people living with HIV doing HIV advocacy on their states and college campuses to end the stigma and criminalization.
-
CommuniTEA is our program to engage young Black women and girls' voices in ending the HIV epidemic. We support 10 young Black women across the U.S. in strengthening their HIV Advocacy skills using a Reproductive Justice Framework. These young women lead a National Week of Action for National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day on March 10th
-
NYHAAD Youth Ambassadors: Every year, 50 Youth Ambassadors throughout the country organize and host events on April 10th for National Youth HIV & AIDS Awareness Day (NYHAAD). Youth Ambassadors lead events that educate the public about the impact of HIV and AIDS on young people. The day also highlights the HIV prevention, treatment, and care campaigns of young people in the U.S.
