Hey John, did
I ever tell you the story of when I first ran for the Montana State
Senate?

When I first decided to run, I was told that I had to contact everybody I
knew to grow the support I needed.

Luckily for Sharla and I, we had a list of folks who had us cut up their
meat from our custom butcher shop. So we sent everybody on that list a
letter letting them know I was running. We asked if they could support my
campaign with a small contribution—and while I wasn’t expecting much, the
response was humbling.

Folks gave whatever they could spare, from old $5 bills to handwritten
checks for $20. And all I did was write a letter, but what I didn’t
realize at that moment was that they believed in me.

And they believed in having a good person they could trust in the Montana
Senate. That was something worth investing in.

I’ll never forget the Montanans who believed in me then, and now, I hope
you’ll believe in me too:

Things have certainly changed since then—those letters have become emails
like the one you’re reading right now—but small-dollar donations from
folks like you still make all the difference in tough races like this one.

Thanks for believing in what we’re doing here,

Jon
