Coca-Cola has even been declared the worst plastic polluter in the world, with some estimates of the company annually producing plastic equivalent to 200,000 plastic bottles per minute.¹ This is not acceptable, especially when these companies continue to fuel this crisis with complete impunity.

The oceans are choking with plastic pollution, suffocating the entire web of life they support. Plastic has been found in nearly 59% of sea birds, 100% of sea turtle species, and more than 25% of fish sampled from seafood markets.

Plastic pollution deepens global inequities, with the Global North’s plastic waste getting dumped into the communities in the Global South that contribute far less to this problem but are forced to experience the worst ill effects of it.

Plastic is disturbingly omnipresent. It can be carcinogenic as well as a hormone disruptor. Traces of it are now found in human breast milk, placenta, and newborns.
