Budget consultation now closed
Thank you for everyone who took the time to respond to the budget propsals regarding public transport. We are currently reviewing the responses - along with those to the main council budget consultation and will publish a response soon.

waterside bridge
Plans for new Waterside Bridge over the Trent progress as planning permission goes in
Nottingham City Council has applied for planning permission for its new Waterside Bridge over the River Trent from both planning authorities - Nottingham City Council and Rushcliffe Council on both sides of the Trent.
The new Government funded cycling and walking bridge will link up communities including the expanding Waterside regeneration area and Colwick Park on the north bank, and the Lady Bay and West Bridgford areas with to the south.
Work on the new bridge is expected to be completed during [ [link removed] ]2025.
The Waterside Bridge project is being delivered using grant funding secured from Central Government through the Transforming Cities programme.

Travel Well
Travel Well Nottingham
The Travel Well programme is focused on making it easier for people in Nottingham to access walking and cycling opportunities.
Last year the Department for Transport announced that Nottingham will get funding to participate in a ‘social prescribing’ trial for communities living in and around Aspley, Beechdale, Bilborough, Bulwell, St Ann’s and Sneinton.
This will see activities like walking and cycling being offered as part of a plan to improve mental and physical health and reduce health inequalities. Travel Well is led by Nottingham City Council in partnership with the Nottingham Place-based Partnership, Nottingham Community Voluntary Service and Nottingham City GP Alliance.

Update - Beechdale Road and Wigman Road cycle scheme
Works underway in Bilborough
* Works now complete outside ambulance station with a new crossing.
* Cycle lane crteated and awaiting final surfacing between the ambulance station and Redbourne Drive.
* Redbourne Drive new signals installed
* Cycle lane under construction between the Redbourne junction towards the Beechdale Roundabout.
* Central reservation has been removed along Hollington Road so that cycle lane construction can begin

*We have some exciting news!*
* You can now use e-bikes in Leen Valley and Basford
* [ [link removed] ] Lime e-bikes must be picked up and dropped off at the designated parking bays

Work continues on city centre cycle routes

The City Centre Cycle Routes scheme [ [link removed] ], will link existing routes along Daleside Road and Castle Boulevard with new cycle lanes – to make cycling through the city easier, safer and more enjoyable.
Councillor Angela Kandola, Nottingham City Council’s Portfolio Holder for Transport, said:
“We’re entering the final stages of this project and it’s great that we’re better able to connect the exciting new developments on the Island site with the city centre for both cyclists and pedestrians.
“There have been calls for a signalised crossing across Lower Parliament Street by Bio City for some years, and I’m pleased this will soon become a reality.
“This project is funded by the Government’s Transforming Cities Fund which aims to promote sustainable travel and better connect to job opportunities – a cycle and pedestrian path between new housing developments and big employers like BioCity with the city Centre is a fantastic example of this in action.”

Latest on Maid Marian Way revamp as preparation begins next week

We begin works to prepare the Maid Marian Way roundabout area for our Future High Streets Funded project to transform it into a more people-friendly junction from *Monday 12 February for up to two weeks. *
The preparation phase will involve removing eleven trees and some vegetation / shrubs. While we would prefer not to take out trees, it is unavoidable. We will be planting a mixture of 41 mature native trees in the area during the last phase of the project.
During these works, one lane will be closed 9.30am - 3.30pm Mon-Fri on the roundabout to allow our teams a safe working area.

Porchester Road latest
Porchester Road
Last year we were awarded over £1.7million from the Active Travel Fund for investment along Porchester Road in Mapperley.
This scheme will provide a safer active travel route for those travelling to and from residential areas, Hogarth Academy and City Centre/Carlton Road destinations.
