While we can't be together in person right now, I believe it's all the more important for us to stay connected during these challenging times for our country and the world.

Our day-to-day lives have been upended by the coronavirus outbreak.

There are Marylanders who now have to telework from home instead of going into the office. There are those who don't have that option and continue to go to work, putting their own health at risk for the well-being of others. There are service-industry and small-business employees whose jobs are now uncertain. Many people have also lost their jobs. And there are parents who have to figure out how to juggle work with care for their children who are home from school.

These are unprecedented times -- we are facing both a health crisis and an economic crisis.

It is for that reason that I'm not asking for campaign contributions.

However, I will continue to reach out with important information and updates.

To start, I want to talk to you about the measures my colleagues and I passed in the House. The new legislation will help support American families during this difficult time by providing:

Paid sick leave
Free coronavirus testing for all
Food assistance
Unemployment insurance

I will reach out to you in the coming weeks as things continue to develop.

In the meantime, I want to thank you for doing your part by checking in with at-risk members of your community, practicing social-distancing, regularly washing your hands, and staying home when you're sick.

I want you to know that I am here for you. Please feel free to call our office at 410-252-2505 with any questions and concerns. Leave a message on our machine and someone will get back to you promptly.

Be well,

Dutch
