Dear John,
Hope your January went well! We at Momentum Education have been busy and are excited to share our progress.
Firstly, we are excited to announce that we hosted two field trips last month, one to White & Case and the other to Vinson & Elkins. On each of these experiences, we had 10 - 20 students visiting the two job sites and learning about law. We are thankful to both White & Case and Vinson & Elkins for welcoming our students and inspiring them to reach their dreams.
Secondly, we are focused on ensuring every single student receives the individualized support they need. While this, of course, includes mentorship, it also includes wraparound services. This month, one of our college students notified us that they were interested in becoming a doctor and perhaps an OB-GYN, so we connected them to two doctors who helped her better learn about the careers. This level of personal support is the hallmark of Momentum Education, and we will maintain this level of service as we continue to serve more and more students.
Finally, we are now providing monthly mentorship and enrichment services (including essay and resume feedback, connections to scholarships and summer programs, and exposure to various careers) to 471 students.
Thank you for joining us on this journey, and thank you for sharing your advice with us. Please email me anytime at [email protected] or call or text me at 346-638-5153 to share ideas and feedback.
Thank you, and let's keep building #OneMomentumFamily!

Jason Gutierrez
Sharpstown International High School '24
___________________________
Jason has received a full four-year scholarship to Stanford University through the QuestBridge National College Match and will be majoring in Computer Science! This past summer Jason participated in the UT Austin Computer Science Academy for All and gained comprehensive knowledge on C++, Arduino boards, and 3-D Printing! When asked about his experience with Momentum Education, Jason shared, "Momentum has been a great tool for me not only because of their essay editing and scholarship opportunity engines but also due to their mentors. Initially, I applied to a similar mentoring program, however, I was rejected. Through Momentum I have been able to meet wonderful people willing to help students such as myself that lacked the resources to guide themselves throughout the college application process. Navigating through high school as a first-gen student can be challenging but through organizations like Momentum, students can tackle these constraints." Thank you, Jason, for believing in us and your dedication to our program.

Audrey Peña
University of St. Thomas '24
___________________________
Audrey currently attends the University of St. Thomas and is pursuing her MBA in the BBA/MBA Program with a minor in Economics and is also on the Pre-Law track. She is currently interning with the American Civil Liberties Union. With graduation on the horizon, Audrey is planning to do some work for Congress in Washington, D.C. or teach English abroad in Taiwan! When asked about her experience with Momentum Education, Audrey shared "Since joining Momentum in 2020, I have always said it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Momentum has helped me with college applications, essays, resume writing, gaining mentorship for law school and so much more. Being able to work with them in different capacities has been fulfilling in a way that I know I am helping other students the way I was assisted; opening doors for them and making education more accessible." Thank you, Audrey, for your trust in our program and paying it forward through mentoring the next class of students, we are so excited to accompany you in your legal career!

We are excited to recognize one of our alums, Blessing Falade!
Blessing graduated from Rice University in 2018 with her BA in Health Sciences and in 2020 obtained her Masters of Public Health from Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University. Currently, Blessing works as a Program Analyst at United States Agency for International Development (USAID). When asked about her experience with Momentum Education, she shared, "I interned with Momentum Education, and I am passionate about education equity and bridging the gap to higher education for minority students. My internship was one of the most fulfilling summers of my college career because I worked with a diverse, talented team and we all felt a mandate to empower underserved high school students with resources. The work that Momentum does will always be near to my heart; I - as a first-generation, low-income, immigrant - wouldn't be where I am today without organizations like Momentum who invested in me as a young student!" Thank you, Blessing, we are honored to have you be a Momentum Education alum!
