You may know Andrea Salinas as a Congresswoman, a proud Oregonian, or a champion for women and working families. But I just know her as Mother.
Hi there – I’m Amelia, and I’m Andrea’s daughter!
Anyone who knows my mom knows that she’s the real deal. Each and every day, she goes to work ready to fight for every family in Oregon.
I’ll never forget my junior year of high school when the Dobbs decision came out. My friends and I were devastated to hear the news and we knew that our freedoms and futures were on the line. I came home and told my mom that this decision will determine where I go to college. But for some, that Supreme Court decision could alter the course of their entire life. It was comforting to know that my mom had been a champion for choice her entire life and protected my freedom to access abortion care as a state legislator.
In the Oregon State Legislature, she championed efforts to pass the nation’s most progressive paid family leave bill. She fought for more accessible, affordable quality health care. She introduced and passed a bill that made Big Pharma accountable to consumers and led to lower prescription drug prices. The list goes on and on. And she’s done it all with honesty, integrity, and compassion. Because that’s who she is.
Look, when my mom was deciding whether to run for Congress in 2021, one of her biggest motivations was her commitment to fighting for a better world for me and my generation. She knew she couldn’t sit on the sidelines and watch our climate change, our democracy decay, and our bodily autonomy get stripped away.
Change isn’t easy, but my mom has never let that stop her. She’s fighting hard in DC, but there’s so much more work to be done.
That’s why I’m asking for my mom – Will you support her re-election campaign? Her race is one of the most competitive in the country, so we’ll need your help to ensure she can keep fighting for Oregon?
