To sum it up, a Republican lawmaker introduced legislation to criminalize people for simply helping others vote via absentee ballot.

By making it a crime for civic organizations and people to help voters, many Alabamians will face significant barriers trying to vote — including seniors, people with disabilities, college students, and people who are currently incarcerated.

Helping people, especially from historically disenfranchised backgrounds, exercise their right to vote is part of the work our grantees are doing all year long, so this GOP-backed legislation is a direct attack against us.
