My Sisters and Brothers,
Black History Month is when we reflect and celebrate the numerous accomplishments African Americans have and continue making from sea to shining sea.
Unfortunately, many of these achievements have been overlooked, which is why Black History Month is so important. This month (and every day for me), we must educate and remind ourselves of how the Black community has enhanced our nation.
We must hold up the heroes who paved the way in creating a more equal America. From John Lewis to Dr. King to Rosa Parks and countless others who stood shoulder to shoulder in the face of injustice so we could be a more just country.
We’ve come a long way, but we still have a long road ahead of us. |
