This month is Black History Month, an opportunity to celebrate the many contributions and achievements of Black Americans throughout our nation’s history, history that is being made every day.

As we uplift the Black community, we must also grapple with the inequity and systemic racism that persists in our country to this very day. I know while we’ve made great progress throughout the years, there is still more to be done.

I am committed to fighting inequality every day in Congress. I was proud to support the Justice in Policing Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. While Republicans throughout the country attempt to roll back voting rights and enact discriminatory voter ID laws, I’m committed to expanding and protecting voting rights to protect Americans’ rights at the ballot box, especially communities of color who are being hit the hardest by these laws.

Additionally, I acknowledge the disproportionate impact of challenges like climate justice, education inequity, and escalating healthcare costs on Black communities every day. Rest assured, I will continue working towards achieving real equality every day.

As an elected official who represents the hardworking people of Pennsylvania’s 7th District and Americans throughout the country in Congress, I am committed to finding new solutions to support our Black communities.
