Crouch calls for independent audit of FSSA

*STATEHOUSE (Feb. 6, 2023) ? *During a media availability this morning in her statehouse office, Indiana Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch [ [link removed] ] called for an independent audit of the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) after the agency acknowledged a $1 billion shortfall.

The call for the audit came during a media availability Lt. Gov. Crouch organized to humanize the devastating impact the proposed cuts and changes will have on the FSSA's Attendant Care program. The lieutenant governor was joined in her office by Melanie Kandzierski, the mother of a medically complex child from South Bend, Ind.

Lt. Gov. Crouch said:

?It?s extremely important that the $1 billion error the FSSA made is not put on the backs of these children and their families. We need to ensure moving forward they get the care and need they deserve. As I?ve mentioned many times, we will be judged on how we care for the most vulnerable among us. That?s why the ability to take care of these children is absolutely a critical need for the state of Indiana. To ensure that we don?t have these kinds of errors moving forward, I will call for an independent outside audit of FSSA so that we know we will never find ourselves in this position again.?
