Senator Vance has started the new year off strong with pushes for real policy.
See what he’s been up to!

<[link removed]>‘WE NEED ACTUAL
ACTION, NOT JUST PRESS CONFERENCES FROM POLITICIANS’ (WTRF
<[link removed]>
)--Saturday will have marked one year since the East Palestine train
derailment, and the White House announced that President Biden will visit the
village for the first time at some point in February.

Republican Senator JD Vance has been making regular visits to East Palestine
since the derailment, and criticized the President for not doing the same. He
calls this trip “too little, too late.”

“A press conference by the President of the United States is not what the
people of East Palestine need. What they need is a government that is actually
paying attention to them and trying to help them solve the problems that were
caused by this terrible explosion. So we need actual action, not just press
conferences from politicians…”

‘THESE FIGURES SHOW THE RAILROAD INDUSTRY’S SAFETY STANDARDS ARE GETTING WORSE’(
The New York Times
<[link removed]>
) -- After a freight train carrying hazardous chemicals derailed a year ago in
East Palestine, Ohio, forcing the evacuation of hundreds of residents and
upending life in the town for months, the rail industry pledged to work to
become safer, and members of Congress vowed to pass legislation to prevent
similar disasters.

No bill was passed. And accidents went up.

“These figures show the railroad industry’s safety standards are getting
worse,” said Senator J.D. Vance, Republican of Ohio and a co-sponsor of the
bill. “We can reverse the trend by passing the Railway Safety Act immediately.”

‘THIS IS EXACTLY THE TYPE OF PROGRAM MY FAMILY WOULD HAVE BENEFITTED FROM IF I
WAS GROWING UP IN OHIO TODAY’(Cleveland.com
<[link removed]>
) -- U.S. Sen. JD Vance has cosponsored bipartisan legislation that would
provide $7 billion to continue a program that’s enabled 22.5 million low-income
households, including more than 1.1 million in Ohio, to access free or
discounted internet service.

“This is exactly the type of program my family would have benefited from if I
was growing up in Ohio today,” said a statement from Vance, a Cincinnati
Republican. “We must ensure low-income families all across Ohio, from our
bustling cities to the most rural parts of Appalachia, aren’t cut off from the
online banking, schooling, and connectivity services they need.”

CRISIS TOMORROW IF HE WANTED TO. HE JUST REFUSES TO ENFORCE THE LAWS OF HIS OWN
COUNTRY. THAT’S DISGRACEFUL STUFF’(Fox News

‘IF JOE BIDEN REFUSES TO TAKE ACTION, LET THE STATES GET THE JOB DONE’(WKBN
<[link removed]>
) -- Senator JD Vance, R-Ohio, has introduced a bill that would give border
states a legal path to defend their territory, the State Border Security Act.
It would prevent federal agents from dismantling barbed wire or other fencing
erected by states within 25 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border.

According to Vance, the legislation counteracts a Supreme Court decision that
allowed the Biden Administration to continue dismantling border barriers built
by Texas.

“The Supreme Court gave Joe Biden a green light to cut down barriers put in
place by the State of Texas,” Vance said. “My bill would codify the right of
every state along the U.S.-Mexico border to defend its own territory. If Joe
Biden refuses to take action, let the states get the job done.”

‘THE STATE BORDER SECURITY ACT WOULD CODIFY THE RIGHT OF EVERY STATE ALONG THE
U.S.-MEXICO BORDER TO DEFEND ITS OWN TERRITORY’(Cleveland.com

) -- U.S. Sen. JD Vance, a Cincinnati Republican, on Thursday introduced
legislation called the “State Border Security Act” that he said would “codify
the right of every state along the U.S.-Mexico border to defend its own
territory.”

‘CLAIMS OF RADICAL TRANSPARENCY AND TRACKING OF U.S. WEAPONS IN UKRAINE ARE
SIMPLY NOT ACCURATE’(Fox News
<[link removed]>
) -- Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, is sending a memo to GOP colleagues ahead of a
closed-door meeting on Ukraine, warning lawmakers about the latest Department
of Defense (DOD) report that he said detailed the "shortcomings in monitoring
U.S. aid to Ukraine."

"Claims of radical transparency and tracking of U.S. weapons in Ukraine are
simply not accurate," Vance wrote in the memo. "Assertions that ‘there is no
evidence of illicit transfer of EEUM defense articles provided to Ukraine’
sidestep the reality that an accurate, up-to-date inventory of U.S.- supplied
weapons in Ukraine – which the DOD IG report demonstrates that the U.S. does
not have – is necessary to determine whether weapons have fallen into the wrong
hands."

‘LET’S PUT AN END TO HOUSE AND SENATE DEMOCRATS’ POLITICAL GAMES ON ISRAEL’ (
The Hill
<[link removed]>
) -- Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) and Rep. Kevin Hern (R-Okla.) urged Speaker Mike
Johnson (R-La.) on Wednesday to move forward on a bill that provides aid for
Israel without offsetting funding elsewhere.

“For months, Senate leadership has attempted to trade Ukraine aid for a bill
that would secure America’s border,” the lawmakers said in a statement. “If
news reports are in any way accurate, that border negotiation is a complete
policy failure. It’s time to address the issues that unite Republicans, not
divide them.”

“We commend the Speaker for standing firm against this bad border deal, and
urge him to put a clean, un-offset Israel bill on the floor of the House
immediately,” they continued. “Let’s put an end to House and Senate Democrats’
political games on Israel.”

‘EVERY AMERICAN DESERVES A FULL EXPLANATION FROM BOEING AND THE FAA ON WHAT’S
GONE WRONG’(Fox Business
<[link removed]>
) -- Federal regulators have launched investigations, Boeing's stock price has
nosedived, and now, a U.S. senator is calling for hearings after the latest 737
MAX 9 mishap.

Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, on Tuesday called for a Senate Commerce Committee
hearing to evaluate the safety of Boeing's 737 MAX aircraft after the plug door
blew off a jet in midair over the weekend. The Federal Aviation Administration
(FAA) has already grounded all 171 Boeing 737 MAX 9 planes worldwide pending
safety inspections.

"The FAA has assured me the 737 MAX is safe – last week’s near catastrophe
calls that determination into question," Vance said in a statement Tuesday.
"Pilots have filed safety complaints on these aircraft, many of which had just
rolled off the production line, at a rate which is unbecoming of American
aviation. My own family has flown on 737 MAX aircraft multiple times in the
past year. Every American deserves a full explanation from Boeing and the FAA
on what’s gone wrong and on the steps that are being taken to ensure another
incident does not occur in the future."
