Happy Tuesday! Last week, we broke the story of how the right-wing bill-mill ALEC is working with an organization called Run GenZ to recruit and train young “conservative” candidates for office — even though it is barred from engaging in political activity. Although Run GenZ presents itself as nonpartisan, it “was founded by a Republican legislator, is exclusively led by Republicans, and all of the ‘rising stars’ and politicians in its promotional videos are Republicans,” CMD’s Don Weiner and Arn Pearson reported. We’ve also been covering some of the under-the-radar political spending that’s teeing-up the political agenda for the year to come, including big spending by Big Tobacco and the billionaire GOP donor Richard Uihlein’s funding for anti-abortion and other right-wing groups. This type of spending is guaranteed to ramp up during this critical election year. We depend on readers like you to fund our important investigations. Please consider donating here. | |
