Media Defence are excited to invite you to our upcoming [4] webinarin collaboration with the [5] International Women’s Media Foundation:Voices at Risk – Journalist Safety and Press Freedom during the Super-Election Year

Overview: While millions across the globe participate in the democratic process this year, journalists will be there to cover the elections. Yet in doing so, they are likely to encounter increased threats, such as arbitrary arrests, smear campaigns, legal challenges, and physical assaults. In addition to physical threats, online violence, disinformation, Deepfakes and AI, and Internet shutdowns are increasingly wielded to disarm dissent during election periods. How can we ensure the safety of these essential voices, enabling them to provide the information crucial for free and fair elections?

This webinar will shed light on the threats journalists face during the super-election year.

We will explore strategies and resources available to protect journalists, encouraging a cross-regional exchange of ideas to bolster journalist safety during this critical period for democracy.
