The correct number of people illegally crossing into our country each day needs to be ZERO!
For three years, Joe Biden has invited the entire world to come to our country illegally—and millions of illegal aliens have flooded our nation.

We've had terrorists, criminals, drug traffickers, and human traffickers take over our border, abuse our laws, and put our nation at risk. In just the last few months, 50 people on our terror watch list were arrested and detained on the border, but tens of thousands of people designated as a “national security threat” were caught, but then released into the country. We cannot just sit around and hope things get better--we have to do something.

After three years of pressure from the American people, Biden and Senate Democrats have finally admitted what we have said all along-- there is a crisis on our border, and it must be solved NOW. Biden has plenty of authority to reduce the number of illegal crossings dramatically, but he has failed to use it. However, there is also a need for updated laws on asylum, detention, deportation, and much more that every president has asked for in the past and every president will want in the future.

It has been three decades since any border laws were passed. Even President Trump asked for more border authority in law when he was president when we had over 4,000 people illegally crossing the border in 2019. But, as he said then, not a single Democrat will vote for it...until now.
Senate Republicans forced Senate Democrats and the White House to agree to add strong border reforms to the Ukraine funding bill. We said we would not support someone else’s national security until we addressed our border security. That demand, forced everyone to the table to take on the number one issue of this year, border chaos.

The final product is finally out. It includes building the wall, doubling the number of deportation flights, dramatically increasing detention beds to STOP catch and release, and it ENDS Biden‘s abuse of parole at our borders. The bill also creates a much faster process for hearings and deportations so aliens do not get released into the country for years before they see a judge. More ICE agents, more Border Patrol, and more Asylum Officers are also included. It will be by far the most conservative border security bill to pass the Senate in decades.

For weeks, I have been eager to get out the facts because there have been so many false rumors and lies floating around the internet and social media:
The bill has NO AMNESTY. None. It detains and quickly deports.

This bill does NOT give out free work permits at the border, in fact, it is just the opposite. It STOPS the Biden Administration from giving out thousands of work permits every day at the border which just attracts more illegal crossings.

The bill does NOT waive in 5,000 people every day (this is the most absurd of all rumors about the bill). This bill STOPS thousands of people crossing every day by changing the way crowds are handled at the border. When a caravan shows up at the border today, the Biden Administration just releases everyone into the country because they are out of room at the border. This bill would change that 180 degrees by demanding when the border is overrun, everyone, every day is deported back to Mexico. In the past four months, there have only been seven days when we had less than 5,000 people illegally crossing, which means almost a million people were released into our country in the past four months. If this bill had been in law four months ago, all of those people would have been deported back to Mexico instead of being released into the US. This is similar to the Title 42 authority the Trump Administration used during the pandemic to turn everyone around, only it has stronger penalties.

The goal is zero illegal immigrants.
I have even heard some people who have never read the bill say that it will make things “even worse at the border!” That is not what the border professionals have told me. The officers who work at the border every day have been very clear, they want these new authorities to finally get back to deporting aliens, rather than releasing them.

I am sure when you read the bill there will be some things in it that you love and that you don’t love. (Every bill that becomes law has a bit of both for almost every Oklahoman.) But I encourage you to not buy the drama and hyperbole. Get the facts. This is a once-in-a-generation moment to make real changes in law for our border.

My mother always told me there is never a wrong time to do the right thing. Let’s close the border now and keep it closed no matter who is president in the decades to come. Let’s put in strong laws that will finally stop the cycle of illegal immigration.
