Dear Mr. xxxxxx,
President Biden’s administration took office 1,111 days ago. That’s 1,111 days the Administration refused to secure our southern border. We are seeing the disastrous results of this repeated decision in real time. Thanks to the reversal of President Trump’s administration’s effective policies, we are facing one of the most severe national security risks in America’s history.
Hundreds of illegal immigrants who have streamed into the country have been on the FBI’s terror watch list and have been from countries that are designated as state sponsors of terror.
It will take far more than the negotiated “border never closes” policies to clean up the mess on our southern border. Additionally, the bill provides absolutely no guarantee that the Administration will enforce existing law, let alone new ones.
Finally, with House Republicans united in opposition to this bill, it makes no sense to bring it up in the Senate.
For all these reasons, I will vote no when the bill is brought to the Senate floor this week.
Montanans are rightfully concerned by our open southern border. We need real solutions and it’s time the Biden administration stepped up to enforce the law and secure our southern border.
