Brothers and Sisters,

UC Optometrists, members of UPTE-CWA, have unanimously voted to authorize a two-day ULP strike Tuesday, February 6th and Wednesday, February 7th. They have been in bargaining since January 2023 to address the worsening patient care crisis and overall pay disparities and working conditions.

The California Labor Federation has officially sanctioned this ULP strike and we ask all affiliates to honor UPTE-CWA 9119 picket lines on February 6-7. We urge everyone to show solidarity at UC Davis Medical Center, Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, UCSD Jacobs Medical Center, and UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay. Your support is crucial in sending a message to the UC that the California Labor movement stands in strong solidarity with our UPTE-CWA brothers and sisters!
