Hope can't be quarantined...

Dear friend,

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, all social visitation in immigration detention centers has been suspended. These visits from friends, family and faith leaders are a vital source of hope for our immigrant brothers and sisters, hungry for contact with the outside world.

But you can still offer hope to our migrant brothers and sisters in desperate need of support. Join our emergency response campaign -- "Hope Can't Be Quarantined" -- to send messages of hope and financial relief to those separated from their loved ones at this time of crisis.

How you can help right now...

  • Write: a letter to a friend in immigration detention, sharing a message of hope and encouragement to break the isolation they are experiencing. Check out page 2 for more information.
  • Pray: that God would protect our friends in immigration detention from the spread of the virus and that they would feel God’s comforting presence during these extraordinarily isolating times. Check out page 3 for a sample prayer.
  • Donate: to our local partners who work tirelessly to support our friends in immigration detention. Check out page 4 for more information.
  • Learn: about the immigration system and how to get more involved with LIRS.
  • Share: a picture or a story of you and your household writing letters and share it on twitter or Instagram, tagging @LIRS and using the hashtag #HopeCantBeQuarantined
