Dear John,
Let’s make something clear: this pandemic did not start a crisis—it amplified one.
Working people all over the country have gone unprotected for decades. A lack of necessities like sick leave, childcare, housing, and food plagued our communities long before COVID-19.
The difference now is that the pandemic has brought these crises into the spotlight and made them even worse. And the solutions presented by Congress don’t go nearly far enough to center those who are suffering the most.
Once again, those in power aim to return the economy to a status quo, where safety and security are promised only to corporations and the wealthy few. This is inexcusable. Gambling trillions of tax dollars on stimulating the stock market can't fix the shortage of hospital beds, or keep groceries stocked for those in need. Only workers can.

When this pandemic is over, we refuse to go back to the way things were. For far too long, people have been suffering under the same broken systems, lacking basic human rights and faced with a government that only cares about corporate profits.
That behavior is unacceptable. We have a chance here—brought forth by unimaginable tragedy—to compel the government to fix the cracks in the very foundation of this country, to protect the people who are the backbone of this nation, so that devastation like this never crumbles our society again.
We need to flood Congress with a rallying cry for change. The tools are here—just click to take action and add your power to the movement.
It’s time to build a country that works for all of us.
