Hey John, it’s The Copper Courier team. We’re COURIER’s Arizona newsroom – one of ten COURIER newsrooms in battleground states across the country.
In a moment, we’re going to share with you a bananas story we broke about PragerU and right-wing misinformation in Arizona’s public schools. But, before we get to that, we’re humbly asking for you to chip in $17 or more now so we can continue to provide Arizonans with critical local news coverage ahead of the 2024 elections.
Alright, John, if you’ve never heard of the right-wing media company PragerU, buckle up.
Last week, PragerU announced “a partnership” with Arizona’s superintendent of education. The deal means public schools can now use their content in their curriculum.
PragerU has repeatedly come under fire for controversial courses, like “How to be a Rational Patriot,” “Mateo backs the blue,” and “How To Embrace Your Masculinity.”
And they even have guest courses from pundits like Tucker Carlson and Candice Owens.
Arizonans should know that Tucker Carlson and Candice Owens may soon teach their kids misinformation in public school classrooms. But with local newsrooms shutting their doors or getting gobbled up by right-wing media conglomerates, trustworthy, local reporting is hard to come by.
That’s why we were proud to be the first to break the story:

Breaking important stories like these takes a tremendous amount of resources, John. Just like all of COURIER’s battleground state newsrooms, the Copper Courier doesn’t use paywalls or subscription fees.
