Legislative Update

Buffalo

Last week I toured Buffalo High School and learned about their alternative learning pathways like the Phoenix Learning Center, as well as how they build relationships with students to support recovery and help them graduate. I also toured the wRight Choice program at the Wright County Judicial Center, which is a program for kids who have been expelled from school.

On Tuesday I met with members of the Farm Bureau who filled me in on how we can help our farmers. I also met with dyslexia advocates, who are trying to make sure that the READ Act becomes a more robust program and helps teachers teach students with dyslexia.

On Tuesday night, I attended a Southeastern Minnesota League of Municipalities where I was recognized for the water treatment bill I'm carrying this session, which funds the development of training for wastewater and water operators through Riverland Community College.



On Thursday night, Austin Public Schools held an event centered around trauma informed schools. It was a great event and I enjoyed learning about new ways to help students coping with trauma!

Finally, I wanted to let you know about my town hall this Tuesday (tomorrow) in Rose Creek. If you want to hear my thoughts on the upcoming legislative session, I hope to see you there!
