We're still celebrating our AAPI Senators for the Year of the Woman...
But right now, the health of our friends is more important than throwing a party. In accordance with national bans against large gatherings, we have rescheduled AAAFund's Salute to the AAPI Women of the Senate.
Mark your calendars for September 9th, 2020 at 6 pm! If you've already contributed, that will still be counted towards our updated event. Please email to let us know at any point if you cannot attend anymore.
The good news is, you can still donate! Reserve your seats if you missed it the first time, or contribute again if Trump's racist handling of the COVID-19 crisis makes you angry too.

Democratic leaders of color condemn GOP's bigotry
First, they demanded an apology from their GOP colleagues. Then they issued a joint statement condemning Trump. Yet again, CAPAC Chair Judy Chu had to call out the GOP, because of recent statements from Trump and Texas Senator John Cornyn.

AAAFund responded to racist language used by GOP
Trump responds to a pandemic with his characteristic racism and ignorance. He and his allies, like Sen. Cornyn, willfully refuse to acknowledge the loaded history of attaching diseases to minority groups.

Like you, we're social distancing and staying home with a TV show or two to binge. AAAFund has canceled all our social events planned for the spring, and will continue reassessing the situation as it updates.
However, we can all still do our parts! Here are some ideas:
- Attend a virtual Census party and invite your friends. Here's one!
- Phone bank or text from home. The DNC can help you find one here!
- Donate to a food bank or other organizations still operating, if you have the resources.
- Give blood! The Red Cross anticipates a decrease in donations given the current crisis, so every drop counts.
- Get to know who's on your ballot, either in your state's upcoming primary or in November! Vote.org has great resources for this. If you haven't voted in a primary yet, check if you can still ask for a vote-by-mail ballot.

AAPI voters in battleground states could be the decisive force in November
|
|
We've been hammering this all year and blogged about this, but a new poll conducted by the DCCC and a polling firm once again confirmed the leftward trend of the AAPI community. The poll found AAPIs favor a generic Democrat in a congressional ballot by 33 points, and the Democratic nominee over Trump by 28 points. Significant swathes of AAPI voters live in battleground districts, and could very well tip the balance left, if the Democrats can activate our various communities (hint: we're not a monolith!).
In the latest monthly AAAFund Clearinghouse call, we hosted representatives from all three branches of the Democratic Party's campaign arm: the DSCC, DCCC, and DNC. They all confirmed that the Party is taking the AAPI voting bloc very seriously, and committing significant resources towards developing new AAPI outreach efforts.
With the president fumbling on the coronavirus response at every possible turn, he is returning to racism to avoid blame for his own failures. His natural xenophobic instinct directly harms our community and he needs to leave in November. Help us help the Democrats win back the Oval Office and the Senate, and keep the House.
