Dear John, In case you missed it, Oregon’s “short” legislative session kicked off this morning and will be continuing until sine die on March 10. Since the session is only 5 weeks long, my team will be operating at a fast pace as we update you on pro-life (and not-so-pro-life) bills and give you opportunities to engage with your legislators. Because of this, I want to let you know that you may be hearing from us more than usual. As we head into this session, there are two things I want to make sure you’re aware of, Advocate. 1. Pro-Life Lobby Day Our pro-life lobby day is just a few days away on February 8th. This will be a great opportunity for advocates of all ages! Visit ortl.org/lobbyday for more information and to register. 2. Action Center In case you missed it, we have an action center on our website so you can see which bills Oregon Right to Life is supporting and opposing and take action when needed. You can also search for Oregon Legislation by keyword if there are other issues that are important to you. It’s a great tool, and I hope you will take advantage of it! Oregon Right to Life works tirelessly to read through and identify legislation that endangers our most vulnerable Oregonians. In addition, I will personally be spending much of the next 5 weeks physically in the Capitol. By being present in the building, my team is able to support our pro-life legislators with guidance and resources so they can represent your values and advocate for mothers, their babies, and those facing end-of-life decisions. It’s going to be a busy month. Thanks for advocating alongside us! Because everyone deserves an advocate, Sharolyn Smith P.S. Oregon Right to Life is the only organization advocating for pro-life values in the Capitol, and this work is only possible because of our donors. Would you be willing to partner with us financially to support our legislative work this year? Thank you! |
