Dear Friend,
Since being sworn in as Maryland’s Comptroller a year ago, I have been hard at work to fulfill my promise to make government work better for all Marylanders. A huge part of making the Office of the Comptroller work better revolves around modernizing our outdated tech systems to improve security, efficiency, and transparency.
The first project our agency undertook was relatively small - we moved all unclaimed property requests into a new online system last year at Maryland One Stop.
This week, however, we are taking a huge step: we will be launching Maryland Tax Connect for all Maryland businesses. Maryland Tax Connect [[link removed]] is a new secure online portal that all businesses will be able to use to file their taxes, make payments, interact with our agency, and upload and share documents. Although we are starting with businesses, within the next two years, all Marylanders will be able to use this system. We are excited to continue to modernize our systems and provide a world-class customer service experience this year!

I am extremely grateful to our dedicated team in the Office of the Comptroller, and to Marylanders for their patience as we work to modernize our tax system and make it accessible for all. While there is still work to do and it will not be without hiccups along the way, I am excited about this big step, and look forward to the progress that we will make in the future to build a better Maryland!
My best,
