Ruth’s List is excited to announce our latest endorsement – Maria Rodriguez, running in Pembroke Pines for City Commissioner in District 3!
Maria’s election would be historic, as she would be the first Hispanic woman elected to the Pembroke Pines City Commission, the youngest currently-serving elected official in Broward County, and the youngest Latina elected official in Broward County. Maria is the only woman, only Hispanic person, and only Democrat running in this race. Talk about HERstory!
Maria was born in Colombia but has spent the past two decades as a Pembroke Pines resident. She went abroad to attend the American University in Paris where she studied International and Comparative Politics and International Law. She then came home and took on the role of Communications and Outreach Coordinator for the Broward County Commission in District 7 and honed her skills of connecting residents with resources that aided them directly.
Beyond her civic involvement, Maria is also a successful entrepreneur who started out in the business world by working to support her parents’ small business. She now channels her creative spirit into her own event planning small business that adds a unique touch to the cultural and social fabric of Pembroke Pines.
Maria has the experience and drive to be an incredible voice on the Pembroke Pines City Commission, so we need to do everything in our power to help her get there. Can you chip in to her campaign today?
