Both Governor Kevin Stitt and Oklahoma’s state treasurer, Todd Russ, are among the leaders of this effort. Speaking through O'Brien, the novel's antagonist and a member of the Inner Party, he wrote this lecture to the novel's protagonist, Winston: The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power. Power is not a means; it is an end. Every human being is doomed to die. But, if he can make complete, utter submission, if he can escape from his identity, if he can merge himself in the Party so that he is the Party, then he is all-powerful and immortal. The second thing for you to realize is that power is power over human beings. Over the body - but, above all, over the mind. Power over matter - external reality, as you would call it - is not important. The unthinkable is the truth that, as it was in Germany, Russia, and China, it is the minds of our children they seek. As a parallel to the points Orwell made, Fr. Robert Sirico wrote in his 2012 book, Defending the Free Market: The problem with Marxism is the anthropology. Marxists forget that one of the most important ways that human beings are equal is that we are all unique, precious, and unrepeatable. We are not indistinguishable cogs in a dialectical materialist progress machine. Marxism took the true understanding of human equality and then utterly disfigured it, triggering injustice, oppression, and inequality on a scale that even its harshest critics did not foresee. These are issues of concern to all mankind no matter the continent one is from. The Italian intellectual, Augusto Del Noce, speaking of the radical core of Marxian philosophy, writes in his classic, The Crisis of Modernity: The revolution represents a transition not just from one social situation to another, but from one stage of mankind to another. It is vital that you and I take an active role in educating our state regarding the radical agenda which has been overtaking the consciousness of the nation. Men who have lost their sense of a divine calling will, as was done so freely in the 20th century, turn our nation into a prison. As the late Angelo Codevilla wrote in his 1997 book, The Character of Nations: Governments run as providers of services train those who live under them to be subjects rather than citizens. During the twentieth century, almost every government on the planet has tried to substitute itself for parents in some way. The state, not the parent, has become the ultimate authority. Accordingly, throughout the western world, state schools routinely sow distrust of physical contact with parents. Last week, Xi Van Fleet made the point not only in her presentation at the History Center, but also in her radio interview with Bott Radio that today's Chinese are in a CCP prison and only Christianity can defeat Communism. Again, quoting the Italian intellectual (and Christian), Augusto Del Noce: The true antitheses of the idea of revolution is the idea of Providence. The idea of Providence, as an affirmation of the divine governance of the world, is the opposite of the idea of Revolution, aimed at achieving its complete human governance.
