Friends,
Happy Black History Month!
This Black History Month, we are excited to highlight the several Black candidates we are supporting for their critical elections this November.
The current 118th Congress is the most racially diverse in history, yet only 11% of Congress is made up of Black Representatives — only 3 Black members serve in the Senate.
Black Americans are significantly underrepresented in our federal government — particularly Black women. As we approach the 2024 election, our government must represent the diverse voices that make our country strong.
Here are some of the Black candidates we are supporting this November:
Colin Allred for United States Senate
Congressman Colin Allred is running to defeat Ted Cruz and give Texas a Senator they can count on.
Angela Alsobrooks for United States Senate
Angela is a lifelong Marylander, mom, former prosecutor, and Prince George’s County Executive. And now, she's running for the Senate to be a voice for families like the ones she grew up with and has spent her career fighting for.
Lisa Blunt Rochester for United States Senate
Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester is in the race to become the first Black woman to represent Delaware in the U.S. Senate.
Mondaire Jones, NY-17
Mondaire is running to return to Congress to finish the work he started to lower costs for Lower Hudson Valley residents, defend our democracy, raise wages, and stop Republicans from banning abortion.
Congresswoman Emilia Sykes, OH-13
Representative Sykes is running for reelection to continue her work in the fight to lower costs for working families, make healthcare more affordable, protect reproductive freedom, and implement climate solutions.
