As a member of the Science, Space, and Technology committee in the House, the complexities of artificial intelligence is a recurring topic discussed in our committee hearings.

On one hand, AI has a lot of benefits. It’s creating jobs, stopping fentanyl trafficking, and helping paralyzed people regain movement.

On the other hand, it’s become a dangerous weapon used to spread misinformation and inflict harm.

Just a few weeks ago, President Biden’s voice was replicated through AI as an attempt to prevent New Hampshire voters from voting in the primary.

Then, Taylor Swift, the world’s largest popstar, was violated by explicit deep fake AI images that spread over Twitter in an attempt to damage her reputation.

While there’s no denying that AI is the future, we find ourselves in a position where we must learn how to balance this technology with everyday real life to protect our society and democracy.

I’m working with my colleagues to ensure there’s secure AI oversight to prevent future damage. If you agree, will you add your name in support of enforcing broader protections against AI? [[link removed]]
