Dear John,

In 2023, despite a hugely challenging legal landscape, we moved the needle on criminal legal system reform in significant ways. From nine exonerations to the passage of 10 critical reforms that will improve our criminal legal system, the work is getting done. And we have people like you to thank.

But our to-do list remains long. With people’s lives and freedom on the line, we can’t afford to let up the pressure. Legislative sessions are resuming all around the country, and we’re already starting conversations with decision makers about this year’s priorities. Support from communities like this one helps to propel the critical work we need to do to fight for innocent and exonerated people across this country, and we’re currently trying to maximize our spring resources before February 15.

We’re grateful you’re a part of the Innocence Project community — you’re vital to all we’ve accomplished so far and all that we plan to do in 2024. Today, will you contribute any amount to help us exonerate even more people waiting for justice and work to pass laws to prevent wrongful convictions in the first place? We can’t do this critical work without you.

The clock never stops when it comes to fighting for the innocent — our lawyers are already traveling around the country for hearings on key cases. We’re looking to ensure steady resources to support the work ahead.

As we look back on 2023, we’re grateful for all we’ve accomplished with your help — but so much remains to be done to free the innocent, prevent wrongful convictions, and create fair, compassionate, and equitable systems of justice for everyone.

Today, please make a donation to help us reach our goal of raising $25,000 by February 15. [[link removed]]

Thank you so much,

The Innocence Project works to free the innocent, prevent wrongful convictions, and create fair, compassionate, and equitable systems of justice for everyone. Founded in 1992 by Barry C. Scheck and Peter J. Neufeld at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University, the organization is now an independent nonprofit. Our work is guided by science and grounded in anti-racism.
